Galetos Story

“Galeto” – Spring chicken charcoal grilled and accompanied with special peri-peri.

During 25 years in Brazil, I ate enough Galetos it could sink a cruise ship. My favourite Galeto restaurant was in down town Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro. I would end up here all day, late at night, frequently worse for wear, with a couple of friends,

We always ordered gales although they had a very large menu. They were simple, very tasty, crusty outside and juicy inside, good quality bird with classic accompaniments, some salad, hand-cup potato, rice, potato salad or maybe slaw. Simply comfort food, So satisfying.

In London on January 2015, it struck me there weren’t any restaurants offering Galetos like the ones in Brazil, so Galetos was born, to serve simple comfort food. Our spring chicken is always fresh, not frozen. We prepare over a charcoal grill until crispy, Juicy and tender.

Our staff serve with pride in a comfortable environment, Simple.

Peri-Peri History

1500’s, Because of the seafaring nature of the Portuguese, these bite-size pods of fire made their way of Portugal aboard spice ships returning from the East, in Portugal, mainlanders wasted no time in turning torrid chillies into a versatile sauce.

We believe on healthy eating and healthy living. Our chicken are always fresh (Not Frozen), cooked over a charcoal grill, with the use of the freshest and natural ingredients like our chillies and herbs.
They provide an excellent source of daily protein. Everything we do goes into making our healthy meals stand out. We hand-craft almost everything we serve. And if you want an ice-cold beer or the legendary Pina-colada to wash it all down. Well, we have those too.
Our food’s not the only thing that’s legendary at Galetos, our fun is too!
